Injecting a dynamic dose of elegant Middle Eastern living into the heart of Central’s dining scene, BEDU, a hidden neighbourhood gem, showcases diverse and exquisite flavours and traditions of Persian, Turkish and Jordanian cuisine by the talented new head chef Ali Ahmadpour. This Spring, BEDU continues to spread scrumptious surprises to its diners by presenting an enticing new brunch menu along with a daily happy hour offering.
Catering to up to 42 seated guests, BEDU evolves through the day from a delightful lunch spot to an intimate dining destination, offering a soothing vibe amidst sophisticated interiors that serve as the perfect canvas on which the culinary team presents its contemporary take on traditional fare that will seduce food lovers at the restaurant's semi-open kitchen.
The space is an interplay of light aided by French windows that open across the façade, blurring the lines between the bar space and the neighbourhood beyond and allowing natural daylight to create a sophisticated yet accessible space that welcomes everyone in the neighbourhood to unwind and relax.
The Weekend Lingering Brunch at BEDU
This March, BEDU will launch a brand new brunch menu where brunch lovers can expect an exciting line-up of tantalising BEDU specialities, bringing the concept of the lingering weekend feast to the heart of Gough Street.
Available every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday from 12 pm to 4 pm, the brunch menu is priced at HK$440 per person. It includes a selection of sharing appetisers, a choice of one sharing main for every two guests and one signature dessert.
This sumptuous brunch offering commences with an assortment of sharing cold and hot mezze, along with the piping hot and fluffy Homemade Flatbread, which goes tremendously well with the creamy Chickpea Hummus topped with olive oil and a hint of spices; seasonal Fresh Vegetables; and Chef Ahmadpour’s special creation, Spinach Labneh, which takes its inspiration from Turkish yoghurt spinach dip caçik; this tangy dairy spread is made by straining yoghurt to a creamy consistency and is garnished with spinach, mint, and toasted walnuts.
Guests then will enjoy the crispy on the outside and soft on the inside Falafel topped with pine nuts salsa, pickled diced mango and tahini dressing before tucking into the sharing mains (all are designed to be shared by two guests), with the choices of Baked Eggplant, a dish inspired by the Persian Borani, a classic Persian yoghurt-based mashed eggplant dip. At BEDU, the halved eggplant is roasted until tender and served with curd sauce and garnished with crispy garlic and mint; Chicken Lari made with the grilled to perfection tender chicken thighs and served with carrot hummus and Chermoula chilli sauce for a touch of bright flavour from the fresh herbs, lemon, ginger, and red pepper flakes; Grilled Whole Seabass served with green beans, cherry tomatoes and Hasho sauce for a tangy touch; or the succulent and fall apart Roasted Lamb Shank marinated in BEDU’s spices and served on the bed of Persian barberry rice made with basmati, barberries, spices, and nuts.
Finish with Chef Ahmadpour’s signature Baghlava Mille Feuille, flaky Baghlava (Baklava) pastry layered with vanilla ice cream, crushed walnuts and almonds, and finished with caramel drizzle guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's dial.
