Maggie Choo’s is pleased to announce the commencement of a new cabaret performance, titled “What Maggie Wants”, starting in November onward. This presentation will feature live vocal and house band performances, complemented by a cast of highly skilled international professional in-house dancers with expertise in acrobatics, jazz, and ballet. Furthermore, a new selection of show-inspired cocktails will be introduced. This unique production is poised to redefine nightlife entertainment standards in Hong Kong.
Since its debut in March, Maggie Choo’s iconic headline cabaret show has gained immense popularity. Now, the team is set to introduce a captivating new production that departs from the classic cabaret theme of its predecessor. Kicking off in November, the new cabaret performance will be held every Thursday from 9:30 pm until midnight. The cabaret show features 12 dance numbers divided into three acts. No entrance fee is required; however, guests are kindly requested to purchase beverages to attend the show.
Featuring stunning hand-stitched costumes designed by the in-house team, the performance is inspired by the ethos of “What Maggie Wants,” which advocates celebrating multifaceted identities rather than conforming to a singular role.
This spectacular performance boasts high-tech acrobatic displays, seductive jazz numbers, charming tap routines, and even Asian-inspired acts, accompanied by a live band and vocal performance, with specially crafted original songs created by Maggie Choo’s in-house production team. In addition to its dynamic performances, the new cabaret show will incorporate multiple interactive elements designed to engage and delight the audience, as well as some surprises in which engaging guests might become part of the show.
A Well-Rounded Entertainment Experience Featuring Daily Live Band Performances and DJ Spin Beats
The experience at Maggie Choo's is enhanced by a constantly evolving lineup of distinguished jazz, pop, R&B, and other genres, available daily from 8 pm to midnight. Concurrently, resident and guest DJs spin beats extending past midnight from Wednesday to Sunday. This makes Maggie Choo's an alluring and lively nightlife destination that provides a comprehensive blend of music and entertainment for its patrons.
Highlights of “What Maggie Wants” Cabaret Show
Begins with a vibrant, original signature opening: the new version of “Maggie Choo’s Song 2.0,” crafted by the established songwriter and singer Mia Matayoshi, who’s also a member of the in-house entertainment production team adept at engaging the nightlife audience. This swing-infused piece, inspired by the 1930s, sets the tone for the evening, particularly when accompanied by a troupe of dancers in shimmering cheongsams that evoke the nostalgia of Shanghai's golden era of swing and jazz.
Guests will experience the artistry of a classic tap dance performance that exudes strength and elegance, featuring Maggie Choo’s in-house dancer in a striking tuxedo-inspired costume that redefines female empowerment. Rooted in 19th-century America, tap dance is a fusion of African and Irish American traditions, evolving from "jigging" into the rhythmic and captivating style we know today.
A light-hearted new dance number draws inspiration from the glamour and extravagance of “Crazy Rich Asians,” combining a cheeky boudoir atmosphere with a touch of nouveau riche flair. The band will kick things off with an engaging Mandarin song, blending the lively spirit of a party with the charm of Shanghainese jazz. It strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and fun, capturing the essence of Maggie Choo’s cabaret.
Maggie Choo's cabaret continues to push boundaries with a breathtaking acrobatic act featuring aerial straps—a mesmerising performance art that fuses strength, grace, and dance. Suspended mid-air by the webbed straps, the dancer skilfully wraps her hands to execute dynamic movements, gravity-defying holds, and elegant spins. This unparalleled act showcases not only the artistry and technical difficulty behind aerial performance but also highlights the remarkable flexibility and strength of the female form.
The first act concludes with a short break, allowing the audience to explore the bar’s mesmerising setting while topping up their glasses. The second and third acts turn up the heat, with playful charm through highly interactive performances that blur the line between audience and dancers.
One highlight is "Partition," a sultry chair-dance routine in which the chair becomes a prop for stylised, captivating movements. In true Maggie Choo’s fashion, audience members will have the chance to step into the spotlight and join the act, with dancers dressed in a bold leopard-print bodysuit accented with red latex details, creating an unforgettable, immersive experience.
Guests will be awed by an acrobatic hand-balancing performance that demonstrates remarkable strength, agility, and precision. In this highly skilled presentation, the performer seamlessly maintains balance on her hands as she transitions between static poses and dynamic movements. This captivating exhibition of control and elegance serves as an impressive testament to the artistry and strength of the human physique.
After a spectacular series of 11 dance numbers, the grand finale will honour the classic cabaret style with the “How to Burlesque” performance, featuring feathers, pearls, and a nod to the glamorous, old-world cabaret spectacle.
New Cocktail and Mocktail Creations

Cocktail: Entertainers - Zubrowka Vodka, Orgeat Syrup, Fig Soda (HK$158)
A modern cocktail, drawing inspiration from select elements of traditional cocktail taste profile, that captures the essence of "What Maggie Wants," the innovative cabaret show that reinterprets classic cabaret with a contemporary outlook. The Entertainer is made with Żubrówka Bison Grass vodka, renowned for its smooth, subtly sweet flavour profile, combined with orgeat syrup —made with almonds, rose water and orange flower water. Topped with a splash of fizzy fig soda, providing a refreshing, invigorating sensation without excessive sweetness.
Cocktail: Inheriting Only - Black Tears Rum, White Chocolate, Mint Liqueur, Raspberry, Yuzu Foam (HK$158)
Inheriting Only is a perfect match for the new cabaret show, mirroring its glamour, complexity, and playfulness. Created as a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional rum-and-citrus ensemble found in the Daiquiri, featuring Black Tears Spiced Rum, characterised by its pronounced notes of coffee, cocoa, and sweet chilli pepper. The cocktail is also blended with mint liqueur, fresh raspberry, and a subtle touch of creamy white chocolate. The final touch is the yuzu foam, an inventive reimagining of the lime component in a classic Daiquiri, imparting a vibrant, modern element.
Cocktail: Young Orphan - Hinch Whiskey Infused Truffle and Bacon, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup (HK$168)
Young Orphan reflects Maggie Choo’s, an orphan who inherited her family's antique shop, as the concept inspiration of the venue. This cocktail, which features Hinch Whiskey infused with truffle and bacon, provides a robust, smoky foundation, complemented by the earthiness of truffle and the savoury of bacon. Combined with simple syrup for a touch of sweetness and lemon juice to introduce a bright, tangy contrast, it cuts through the richness and creates a beautifully balanced acidity. The cocktail's complex flavour pays tribute to women who can embrace multifaceted identities rather than conform to a singular role.
Mocktail: Entrepreneurial Spirit - Seedlip Spice 94, Seasn Dark, Cinnamon Syrup (HK$140)
This alcohol-free blend, Entrepreneurial Spirit, offers a rich, warm taste symbolising creativity. Seedlip Spice 94 provides aromatic notes of allspice, cardamom, and citrus, while Seasn Dark Bitter adds depth with malty, caramel, and molasses flavours. Cinnamon syrup adds sweetness and warmth, uniting the flavours. It reflects Maggie Choo’s entrepreneurial spirit, where she discovered a hidden door behind her antique shop, transforming it into a secret cabaret to rewrite her destiny.
Mocktail: Glamorous - Seedlip Spice 94, Cucumber Syrup, Simple Syrup, Lime Juice, Watermelon Juice (HK$140)
The alcohol-free Glamorous reflects on the dazzling costumes, a lively and refreshing mix with layers of crisp, sweet, and zesty flavours. The Seedlip Spice 94 offers a subtle, aromatic base with warm hints of allspice and cardamom, topped with cooling cucumber syrup and lime juice, while the watermelon juice adds a fruity sweetness that keeps the drink light and invigorating, perfect for those who want a beverage that’s as revitalising as it is indulgent.
Mocktail: Thriving - Seedlip Garden 108, Passionfruit Puree, Simple Syrup, Non-alcoholic Sparkling Wine (HK$140)
Thriving, an alcohol-free mocktail, is a vibrant tropical drink that combines lively flavours. Seedlip Garden 108 provides herbal and grassy notes with hints of fresh peas and thyme, while passionfruit puree adds a tropical tang. The subtle sweetness of simple syrup balances this, all topped with a sparkling finish from non-alcoholic sparkling wine, making it feel celebratory and refreshing—ideal for any occasion.
The Awe-Inspiring Interior

Maggie Choo’s is the creative vision of the award-winning architect and design maverick Ashley Sutton, the visionary who conceived such unique settings as Iron Fairies, The Mixing Room, and Dragonfly. Australia-born Ashley Sutton became a global sensation when he published his first illustrated fairy tale book, a bestseller and the inspiration for Iron Fairies, one of his most successful nightlife concepts to date. Since then, the designer has celebrated his vivid imagination with surreal, extraordinary entertainment dreamscapes, from otherworldly aviary-themed Ophelia to the kaleidoscopic Dragonfly. Through each new venue, Sutton's creative spirit and vivid narratives bring his characters and creations to life, pushing boundaries with unparalleled craft and artistry.
Maggie Choo's takes after Sutton's incredible storytelling, where Maggie Choo is the heroine of the concept. An orphaned girl who inherited her war-torn family's antique shop, Maggie Choo discovered a hidden door behind her antique shop, leading to an abandoned bank built by the East India Company in 1847 that has since been transformed into an extravagant secret cabaret destination, one where the most intriguing patrons with the utmost interesting stories to tell muse over classic concoctions.
Dressed by Sutton in leather, imported teak and copper reminiscent of the space's banking days, a past that's accentuated by a giant antique-style bank vault door, Maggie Choo's boasts a feature wall decorated with ornate colonial-style plaster moulding and a vintage clock installation, as well as two iron spiral staircases that lead up to an attic space. A latticework of iron panels adorns the entire ceiling, while countless vintage-style safe deposit boxes grace one whole wall.
The bar's intimate setting and dim lighting, courtesy of art-deco-style vintage pendant ceiling lamps, create a warm and sensual atmosphere. Other design highlights include vintage, green-coloured velvet chesterfields and bar stools to match the hand-crafted wooden tables; decorative sculptures in different sizes; and, as a centrepiece, a grand piano. Each carefully selected element creates an unashamedly sexy and intimate space that instils a sense of mystery, intrigue and luxury.
Maggie Choo's also features a unique vintage bank teller counter-turned-cocktail bar space, accentuated by touches of intricate metalwork and a giant vintage around-the-world map installed behind the bar. Guests can enjoy a range of cocktails front and centre at the marble-topped cocktail bar.
Maggie Choo's is located at Shop 1, Ground Floor, 1-13 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong. It is open daily from 6 pm till late. For inquiries, please WhatsApp +852 6250 6000. Follow on Instagram @maggiechooshk for show updates and the daily band roster.
