Home to an all-native Hong Kong culinary team led by Head Chef Tommy Tsui, WAKARAN’s dishes are designed to bring friends and family together, with flavours cast through a prism of various modern Asian cuisines. The vibrant eatery has now added a tantalising array of new dishes to its a la carte menu and an all-new weekday lunch menu, swiftly becoming Ship Street’s top lunchtime destination.

At WAKARAN, Chef Tsui has created a captivating lunch menu that allows guests to experience his precise technique and flavourful dishes. Available Monday to Friday from 12 pm to 3 pm, a two-course menu starts from HK$148 per person, HK$168 for three-course, and HK$178 for three-course and a choice of beverage.

This delightful lunch menu commences with a selection of starters with the highlights of the creamy and rich Miso Soup blended with prawn miso, crustacean stock, and a whole orange for a kick of sweetness, topped with slices of fresh Boston lobster meat; a refreshing Pomelo Salad tossed with house-made crispy miso crunch and a fresh yuzu vinaigrette; and Fried Chicken in which the deep-fried deboned chicken is glazed with sweet and spicy yuzu honey sauce and Sichuan numbing pepper.

Standout options from the mains include the delectable Soya Scallion Oil Tagliatelle, cooked with minced pork and shredded hot pickled mustard root that has been braised overnight with a special blend of nine aromatic spices, finished with a drizzle of fragrant soya scallion oil and topped with a soft-boiled egg. Ma Po Tofu lovers will enjoy this creative version of Crispy Mapo Tofu and Chicken, the slow-braised minced chicken with Chinese chilli bean sauce is served with crispy tofu, crab meat, and rice on the side; and Beef Cheek, which the Australian Wagyu beef cheek is tenderly slow-cooked for 12 hours and paired with a lightly sweet and aromatic sauce blended from beetroot, cherry, and kombu, and served with butter-sautéed chanterelle mushroom.

End the meal with a sweet finish, with the options of Tiramisu Cake with matcha tea flavour or a Mango Pomelo Sago made with fresh mango puree mixed with coconut milk and topped with an airy coconut form.

New Additions to the A La Carte Menu

For dinner guests who want more, WAKARAN’s new dishes are Chef Tsui’s interpretation of comforting dishes based on popular flavours everyone loves. The enticing new additions include Chicken Wing with Yuzu Kosho Romesco (HK$39 per stick, minimum two pieces). The chicken wings are grilled on an open fire to form an instantaneous crust around the meat while trapping in natural juices, finished with a layer of sweet and tangy Romesco sauce made from roasted red peppers, tomatoes, garlic and yuzu pepper.

Seafood lovers will enjoy the Pepper Tiger Prawns (HK$238), in which the fresh tiger prawns are stir-fried in a blend of pepper sauce made with three different kinds of black peppers, ginger, garlic and other spices. Also, look out for Hibachi Hanger Steak (HK$338). The USDA Hanger steak is perfectly cooked and adorned with a unique sauce crafted from blue cheese and Chinese fermented bean curd, perfectly balancing flavours to create a delightful tangy and umami aftertaste.

Catering to up to 45 seated guests, WAKARAN's dining room has a modern and creative persona. A vibrant red and green matching wall frames the entrance’s bar tables and high stools, complemented by large modern windows framed with black iron across the façade. Another vital component of the dining room is its open kitchen counter seating, where the culinary team create a sense of theatre as they prepare delectable and enticing dishes before guests’ eyes. These vibrant interiors serve as the perfect canvas on which the culinary team presents its modern take on popular Modern Asian fare.
