TANGO Argentinian Steakhouse, the city’s most acclaimed South American steakhouse for over a decade, knows just what savvy Hong Kong diners need as it rolls out an exciting brand-new restaurant in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong.
Now in its new home, TANGO will continue delivering a refined and fun dining experience for all savvy carnivores and will appeal to connoisseurs of the finest seafood and meat.
A contemporary interpretation of Buenos Aires' old residences, the dining room carries a rustic and convivial atmosphere with the design persona drawn from Argentina’s capital’s vibrant vintage culture; each carefully selected element contributes to the space’s timeless elegance. TANGO has a capacity of 72 seats and features a main dining room dressed in earthy tones, leather, wood panelling, pastel-toned plaster walls, and wine cabinets in vintage teal timber.
Bathed in golden light by banks of suspended vintage pendant lamps, the space is also complemented by a private dining room that caters to up to 20 guests, and it is decorated with vintage-esque floor tiles and retro mural art gracing the rustic brick wall.
At the new location, the focus is on the action of the restaurant's open kitchen; this is where the culinary team adds a touch of action to the vibrant setting and develops a sensory language for the food served.
The culinary offerings at this Argentinian steak-seafood-wine emporium are exciting and varied. With a rich cultural history and an infusion of flavours from various cultures, Argentina’s food is truly one-of-a-kind. Throughout its history, the country has been shaped by waves of immigration from Spain, Italy, and other European countries, leading to a unique national gastronomy with a myriad of different dishes.
The Dynamic Duo Behind TANGO

Helming the kitchen at TANGO are Corporate Chef Duilio Desimoni and Head Chef Saruulgerel Eggi Enkh-Amgalan. Both chefs focus on creating great flavour and texture combinations while employing cuts, preparations and ingredients that present a dining experience rooted in tradition while being unapologetically contemporary. Combined, the chefs deliver sophisticated touches that elevate the classic Argentinian culinary concept, ensuring the new menu has something for every palate.
Buenos Aires native Chef Duilio Desimoni boasts a solid 15 years of culinary experience and is no stranger to authentic steakhouse restaurants. He started cooking at a very young age while studying at IAG (Argentine Institute of Gastronomy), one of the best culinary schools in Buenos Aires, before beginning his career at some of the best kitchens in Argentina, including Duhau Restaurant at Park Hyatt Hotel Buenos Aires and Chez Nous at Relais & Chateaux Algodon Mansion. Chef Desimoni then decided to expand his horizons and set out for a broader understanding of global cuisine as the Executive Chef at P.F. Chang’s China Bistro in Buenos Aires. Recognising the importance and value of education, the chef also spent his free time teaching in IAG’s Asian cuisine seminars.
TANGO Head Chef Saruulgerel Eggi Enkh-Amgala is passionate about all steaks. Born and raised in Mongolia, the broadcasting graduate turn-chef boasts a solid 15 years of culinary experience in Argentinian cuisine. He was exposed to the culinary world when he moved to the UK in 2009 and worked his way up from being a dishwasher to sous chef at Gaucho Steakhouse in Manchester in just under two years.
In 2016, Chef Eggi was sent to Dubai to work on the opening of Gaucho Steakhouse in Dubai before relocating to Hong Kong in 2017. Inspired by his love of Argentinian cuisine and paying tribute to his mentor, Chef Fernando Trocca, guests at TANGO can expect authentic Argentinian flavours cast through a prism of lighter culinary accents.
"Our menu reflects the authenticity of Argentinian flavours and techniques. We take pride in sourcing our ingredients straight from Argentina, creating a truly authentic dining experience. We make our empanada in-house and are excited to present an all-Argentinian steak selection to Hong Kong diners," said Chef Eggi.
Embrace the Argentina Way of Dining with Asado, Empanadas, Achuras and More
In fact, not only does TANGO strictly serve only Argentinian steak cuts, but the restaurant also sources the best quality pork, poultry, achuras (Argentinian sausages), herbs and spices straight from the four corners of Argentina.
TANGO’s beef selection comes from the heart of the pampas cattle raising region in Buenos Aires province; Azul Natural Beef S.A, an award-winning producer of high-quality Argentine beef founded through the partnership of two families, has a long tradition of six generations in the meat and cattle-raising industry. It is not only committed to sustainable production but also attaches great importance to animal welfare. Its hormone-free and antibiotic-free Aberdeen Angus cattle are raised on excellent quality pasture and strict nutritional programs throughout the entire production process, from breeding to final fattening.
The result is premium and tender beef for the particularly discerning palate, including the Bife de Ancho Ribeye (400 grams for HK$418); Bife de Lomo Fillet (280 grams for HK$368); Bife de Chorizo Sirloin (350 grams for HK$348); Cuadril Rump (340 grams for HK$308); Skirt (300 grams for HK$308); and Entraña Gruesa Hanger Steak (300 grams for HK$308).
Made for sharing, opt for Gaucho Platter with rump, fillet and skirt (440 grams for HK$488); Virtuoso Platter with rump, fillet, sirloin, and ribeye (1320 grams for HK$1,398); the Bife de Costilla Con Lomo T-bone from Entre Todos Farm (1,000 grams for HK$1,198); and the Entre Todos Farm’s Ojo de Bife con Hueso bone-in ribeye (800 grams for HK$998).
For the first time ever, TANGO now presents a dry-aged beef cut selection with cuts aged up to 30 days. Coveted dry-aged beef boasts a naturally more concentrated flavour due to the moisture loss during its maturation, when enzymes in the meat break down the connective tissue, resulting in a more tender texture and a touch of nuttiness. These cuts of aged beef are carefully trimmed and placed on a high-temperature grill to be seared to perfection, forming an instantaneous crust around the meat while trapping in natural juices to enrich the flavour.
These stunning steaks are complemented by a selection of fresh salads and starters, as well as a menu of Frutos Del Mar, fresh seafood dishes (HK$168 each) including Poached Shrimp Aji Rojo with red chilli and tomato sauce, served with plantain chips; Marinated Yellowfin Tuna with guacamole, herbs and tortilla chips; Hokkaido Scallops Tiradito served with leche de tigre, herring roe, and coriander-infused oil; and Jumbo Lump Crab Causita served with aji panca sweet potato, brandy-infused aioli and quail egg.
A big part of Argentine culinary culture includes achuras, a selection of sausages with spices made for the barbecue. These include Chorizo Sausages made with pork and beef, served with chimichurri and homemade Escabeche pickles (HK$118); Salchicha Parrillera, made with minced pork and aromatic spices, served with padrón peppers and salsa (HK$138); Beef Chinchulin made with grilled beef intestine, served with chimichurri and fresh lemon (HK148); and many more.
Don’t miss out on the iconic Argentinian empanada selection (HK$68 each), a crispy traditional Argentinian pastry filled with various savoury ingredients and served with fresh tomato salsa. TANGO’s selection ranges from Fugazetta, with caramelised onion and a trio of cheeses; Carne, with hand-cut Argentinian beef, onions and olives; Pollo with roasted chicken with bell pepper and basil; and Cerdo, with pulled pork belly and spiced green apple jam.
The restaurant also offers a selection of delectable non-beef dishes ranging from Grilled Spatchcock Chicken, served with rosemary garlic and grilled lemon (HK$258); and Matambre a la Fugazzeta, grilled pork matambre served with caramelised onion and mixed cheese (HK$258); to Truffle and Mushroom Pappardelle (HK$208).
Be sure to leave room for palate-pleasing desserts like the classic Argentinian Mini Gâteau with frozen dulce de leche cream in coconut dacquoise and chocolate sauce (HK$88). Dulce de leche, which translates as “candy made from milk” or “milk jam”, is a creamy caramel-like sauce made by slowly heating and reducing condensed milk. Alternatively, the Almendrado is made with creamy vanilla and honey ice cream, almond praline topping and orange chocolate sauce (HK$78); while the Churros are served with Nutella dipping sauce (HK$78).
The restaurant's crowd-friendly menu is complemented by an extensive wine collection with many boutique wines available by the glass. Included among an impressive selection of some of the world’s finest wines are classic Argentinian Malbecs, recognised as some of the best wines produced globally.
