Maggie Choo's Unveils Fifth-Season Cabaret "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps"

Maggie Choo's, Hong Kong's most celebrated cabaret and live music destination, invites guests into a world of baroque splendour and shadows, brought to life through boldly designed, hand-stitched costumes, with the launch of its fifth-season production, "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps."

“Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” draws its inspiration from the French Baroque — an era defined not by restraint, but by excess: gilded ornament and emotion painted in full colour. The new production channels that same sensibility into a cabaret experience built around tone and contrast, with each act shifting the room's mood in turn — from cheerful and seductive, to powerful and tingling, to something altogether more decadent. This interplay of colour echoes the opulence, theatre, and sheer volume of a modern take on Baroque art itself.

The new show kicks off on 24th September and runs every Thursday from 9:30 pm until midnight, with a door charge of HK$200 per guest, including a choice of drink (cocktail, non-alcoholic or alcoholic). The venue has also welcomed an additional house vocalist, freshly arrived from New York, who will perform alongside Maggie Choo's own iconic vocal artist.

All-new acts and hand-stitched, uniquely designed costumes take the show to a new level of excitement, with twelve numbers unfolding across three acts — each shift in colour and tone tracing the Baroque's evolution through cheerful, seductive, powerful, and tingling registers of feeling.

Opening — "Bonjour Maggie": A new track created by Maggie Choo's own house production team, opening with a high-tempo DJ set that pulls all focus straight to the dancers as it ushers in a distinctly modern take on Baroque — Mont Cabaret. From the very first beat, Maggie Choo's unveils a world of baroque splendour, female power, and shadows dressed in lace.

The Decorative: True to Maggie Choo's signature interactive numbers, this playful sequence draws guests into the performance itself, with audience members becoming living ornaments amid the dancers — gilded flourishes brought to life for a moment of fun and a spotlight.

“Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps”: The title number — a Latin-inspired routine crowned by a coral pink, hand-stitched giant headpiece, its exaggerated silhouette and sculptural scale a direct homage to Baroque excess.

Feeling Good on “Should I Take it off”: An interactive rendition of Nina Simone's classic, painted in the full, unguarded colour of emotion the Baroque prized — guaranteed to bring heart-pumping energy and laughter to the room.

Looking for Trouble: A solo Burlesque number for one dancer, wielding a dazzling red-and-black hand-stitched fan — deep shadow and gilded contrast staged like a Baroque portrait come to life.

See-Through: Dancers will dress in handsome yet stunning lace-stitched white suits — tough and composed on the outside, sensual and vulnerable within. Lighting, texture and colour come together in a number celebrating every register of female energy, its ornate lace a study in Baroque restraint and excess at once.

Le Grand Finale: The evening closes in a dark, lavishly extravagant Baroque style — because, as the finale insists, a little party never killed anybody.

Maggie Choo's is a masterpiece of atmospheric storytelling. The venue is built on the legend of Maggie Choo, an orphaned girl who discovered a hidden door behind her family's antique shop, leading to an abandoned bank vault built by the East India Company in 1847, now transformed into an extravagant secret cabaret.

Dressed in leather, imported teak and copper, the space features a grand antique-style bank vault door, ornate colonial plaster mouldings, twin iron spiral staircases, a ceiling lattice of iron panels, and an entire wall of vintage-style safe deposit boxes. Dim art deco pendant lighting, green velvet chesterfields, hand-crafted wooden tables, and a centrepiece grand piano complete the intoxicatingly intimate atmosphere.
